Sigma Nu excels in academics, strives for greater brotherhood within our chapter, and participates in the Iowa community. But we feel that in order to fully appreciate the college life, we must go beyond that. Our chapter is highly involved in the social scene here at the university. In other words, we like to have fun.
In the Fall, every home game Saturday at 5:15 a.m. Sigma Nu kicks off with another fraternity at our private tailgate 3 blocks from Kinnick. This is a great way for the students to get to know our members as well as the members of the Greek Community. Plus, it's football!
We also feel that having strong social ties within the Greek community is an important aspect of Greek life. With that goal in mind we plan weekly socials throughout the year with other chapters in the Greek community. Socials are one of the best aspects of fraternity. They are a fun way of meeting new people, enjoying the company of our lovely sororities and living up the good old college life. Aside from the weekly socials, we also participate in educational events with sororities such as etiquette dinners, seminars, and outreach activities.
We have a few larger events throughout the year as well. We host our semi-formal date party every semester as well as our famed "Sigma Nu Hayrack" in the fall and finish the year off with the much anticipated two day formal in Galena, Illinois every Spring.
Sigma Nu strives to excel in all social aspects of the Greek Community. As a social fraternity, we enjoy keeping a diverse schedule with many other Greek sororities and fraternities. The tentative social schedule for Fall '09 will be posted soon.
If you would like to join an event or have any questions please feel free to contact our Social Chair.
